Ditmas Park

Brooklyn

About

Considered to be a subsection of Flatbush, Ditmas Park deserves its own praise particularly thanks to its Historic District that’s filled with authentic Victorian architecture. This Brooklyn enclave might feel more like a slow suburb than an outer haunch of New York City - the HBO show Girls reportedly shot scenes meant to take place in Iowa in the neighborhood - but it’s just a subway ride away, making it ideal for those who desire peace and quiet (and don’t mind an extended commute). Its small-town feel is further defined by its classic main street, Cortelyou Road, which is lined with a diverse array of small shops and restaurants (The Farm on Adderley is a highlight for New American farm-to-table fare).
