Seattle

About

One word: Pike Place Market Place, the perfect cacophony of small businesses buzzing away with vibrant activity of fishmongers, butchers, cheesemongers, coffee roasters, and vegetable vendors. It is the oldest continually operating market in the United States and has served as the beating heart of commercial activity in Seattle since 1907. Commercial chains are banned in Pike Place with the obvious exception of Starbucks which still operates its first location at Pike Place which opened its doors in 1971. If you can pull yourself away from the hustle and bustle of the marketplace, head to the waterfront to take in the stunning watery scenery that is Elliot Bay. Head downtown proper and you’ll find commercial buildings, hotels, and boutique retail shops along with an abundance of culture at the Seattle Art Museum, Benaroya Concert Hall, and A Contemporary Theatre.
